Anorexia

Loss of appetite.
Anorgasmia

Failure to experience an orgasm during sex. See also congenital anorgasmia.
Anti-inflammatory drugs

Drugs that reduce inflammation (swelling) by modifying the body's immune response.
Antiarrhythmics

Medications used to treat abnormal rhythms of the heart.
Antibiotics

Any of a class of medicines that kill infection-causing bacteria.
Antidepressants

Medications used to treat and help relieve depression.
Antihistamines

Medications used to treat allergic reactions or allergies.
Antihypertensives

Medications used to treat high blood pressure.
Anus

The opening of the rectum to the outside of the body.
Anxiety

A feeling of apprehension and fear characterized by physical symptoms such as palpitations, sweating, and feelings of stress. Anxiety disorders are serious medical illnesses that affect approximately 19 million American adults. These disorders fill people's lives with overwhelming anxiety and fear. Unlike the relatively mild, brief anxiety caused by a stressful event such as a business presentation or a first date, anxiety disorders are chronic, relentless, and can grow progressively worse if not treated.
Arteriography

A test given to patients who are candidates for vascular reconstructive surgery. A dye is injected into the artery believed to be damaged so that the artery can be viewed by X-ray.
Artery

A blood vessel that carries oxygenated blood from the heart to other parts of the body.
Atherosclerosis

Also called hardening of the arteries, it is a process in which the walls of the arteries become thickened and hardened, usually due to a buildup of fat deposits. Often related to smoking.
Autoinflation

Pertaining to penile prosthesis, spontaneous inflation of the prosthesis without manual pumping.
Axial rigidity

The rigidity as measured along the axis or length of the penis.
